Use of Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy for DNA Identification on Recycled PET Composite Substrate

Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy has been extensively used in plastic pollution research, since it the advantages of great simplicity, rapidity, and low cost, being widely employed fingerprint identification molecular composition structure. The present study evaluates attenuated total reflection (ATR)–FTIR as a sensitive effective assay for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) isolated from experimental animals. Various composite materials based on recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) main component, along with high-density (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), aluminum nanopowder obtained using an injection-molding machine, were substrate contaminants. contamination was performed quantified nucleic solution added droplets to clean, decontaminated samples, which then dried kept protective environment until analysis. ATR–FTIR (with FTIR spectrometer equipped ATR accessory) analyze bare materials’ substrates DNA-contaminated samples. To best our knowledge, evaluation PET packaging DNA species by not reported previously. This demonstrated that could provide rapid, sensitive, reliable approach screening biochemical contaminants PET.
